What do you do in your free time?
Some of you may be so busy that you’ve forgotten what the term “free time” means. Regardless of your schedule, all of us have at least a few minutes every day with no obligations. What does that time look like? What is your go-to activity? It might be watching a TV show, researching that next big purchase, scrolling through Facebook, playing golf, or going to the gym. All of these activities can be good, but if we spend all of our free time on these things, it can prevent us from living the way God intended.
One of the biggest catalysts in my life was when I considered my free time to be an opportunity for spiritual growth, rather than a time to be entertained.
My default activity changed from social media to reading my bible, from watching TV to reading a book, from listening to sports radio to listening to podcasts or worship music.
There is a reason we go to these worldly things first. They offer some type of relief from stress, or laughter that lightens the day. But the reality is, true fulfillment can only be found in Jesus. When we pursue Him first, we find life to the fullest. I want to encourage you to take advantage of the opportunities you have every day. Don’t waste them on trivial things, but seek to know and love God more and more.
