Have you ever been in a certain place, but your mind was somewhere else? This has happened to me many times, and if we aren’t careful, we can easily get distracted from the opportunities that we have with the people right in front of us.
We can get distracted by entertainment OR with the things on our
to-do list. Which is it for you?
Here are 3 things that will help us live in the moment.
1. Put your phone down.
Whether you’re on social media, or checking an email for work, we can miss so many opportunities to add value to our family members, friends and co-workers. Keep your eyes up and ears tuned to God’s voice about how you can be a blessing to those around you.
2. Be intentional with people.
With everything on our calendar, things that aren’t can often be put off or overlooked. Plan out things that you can do to build stronger relationships. That could be a date night with your wife, a lunch with a co-worker, or a fun activity with your kids.
Prioritize the important things, not just the urgent things.
3. Remember that people are more important than the task at hand.
Don’t be so consumed with getting things done, that you don’t notice the people along the way. Remember, loving God and loving people sum up our purpose in life. Be a man that values relationships more than results.
Scripture of the week – Matthew 22:37-39
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’
