Faith for the 21st Century | Fireside Room

Vernon and Sara Lewis with Claud Lenard

Solid Biblical studies based upon material provided by the Assemblies of God.

Unit 1: Return from Exile [Nehemiah]:
Have you ever become aware of a situation and said, Someone ought to do something about that? Nehemiah was a man who was deeply moved by a situation and did what he could about it. The studies in this unit will explore how he addressed this situation and the many challenges related to it.

Unit 2: Gifts of the Spirit:
As Spirit-filled believers, we are keenly aware of how important the power of the Spirit is to living the abundant life Christ came to provide. In this unit, we will be exploring one aspect of how the Spirit works in and through believers – the gifts of the Spirit.

Discovery Class | Peterson Hall

Dr. Sarah McCoy

Small Things that Made a Huge Difference – Often in life we perceive significant events as the most defining. Yet history is filled with examples of seemingly insignificant events that had profound impact. Some of these caused great good, and some caused great evil. Achan’s selfish decision to keep a few items for himself brought tragedy to a nation. A simple prayer by Jabez changed his future. Drawing from these stories and others like them [baking a small cake for a prophet during famine, the lie of Ananias and Sapphira, etc...], we will rediscover the importance of not underestimating the small things in life.

The Story | AC 200

Dr. Joshua Fischer

The Bible as one continuing story of God and His people. Based on the work of Randy Frazee and Max Lucado, this class will focus on the greatest story of all time – the story of a God who loves His children, who established for them a way of salvation and provided for them a route to eternity.

Each story presented reveals the God of grace – the God who speaks; the God who acts; the God who listens; the God whose love for His people culminated in the sacrifice of His only Son for the sins of humanity. This same God is still speaking, still listening, still demonstrating His unfailing love. These stories will encourage you to listen to God’s call on your life, as He intersects His story with your story.

Horizons ~ Rediscover Your Roots | AC 201

Rev. Ralph Lovvorn

The basics of faith are the roots from which we draw emotional stability, mental food for growth, and spiritual energy and perspective on life. Rediscover Your Roots offers an easy-going and practical approach that reviews key doctrines and shows their power to strengthen and encourage you in your walk of faith.

Righteousness & Christianity | Conference Room 203

John Stonehocker

1 Peter 4:18 – And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Who are the righteous and what makes them righteous? Would I be among those called righteous? Is a righteous person also a Christian and is the reverse also true? We will be looking at scripture as well as writings of those that have gone before us to answer these kinds of questions.

  1. Our relationship with God – the attributes of God [Tozer]
  2. The Holy Ghost
  3. Would you know a hypocrite if you saw one? Jesus and the apostles new them.
  4. Does a Christian need to undergo persecution?
  5. And more…

Home Improvement | Room 204

Jeff Turner & Kevin Hanover

The God I Never Knew – Who is the Holy Spirit, and exactly what does he do? Many people find the Holy Spirit mysterious, confounding – even controversial. Why is the third person in the Godhead – the one Jesus said would be the believer’s ultimate source of truth and comfort – the source of such confusion? In The God I Never Knew, Robert Morris clearly explains that the Holy Spirit’s chief desire is for relationship – to offer us the encouragement and guidance of a trusted friend. This insightful and biblically-based book moves beyond theological jargon, religious tradition, and cultural misconceptions to clarify what the Holy Spirit promises to do in your life.

Faith, Hope, & Luck – Our faith in God often hinges on his activity — or inactivity — in our daily experiences. When our prayers are answered, our faith soars. When God is silent, it becomes harder to trust him. But it doesn’t have to be that way — it’s not supposed to be that way. In this 5 part series you will discover the difference between faith and hope. You will be presented with a definition for FAITH that will shed new light on both the Old and New Testaments. Andy Stanley explains what we can expect of God every time we come to him with a request.

The title for this class comes from Joshua 24, a chapter in the Bible that calls for total commitment. Total commitment to God will change the way you think, speak, and act. Join us on the journey of living totally committed to God.
